Meghan Kirkpatrick and Tyler Nichols have been managing and running the Bark Eater since 2018 when they took over and began leasing it as they own. However, their story here really began over a decade ago in 2013 when they were hired to move on site as employees to aid in the revival of this iconic place.

The vision began as a farm to table breakfast with cabin rentals. They helped to bring this to life and then under their management it has continued to blossom with the addition of the wedding venue and the construction of the yurt for use as a gathering space for community offerings and retreats. Their main intention has always been to provide the opportunity for people to disconnect from their busy lives and reconnect with nature, each other and themselves immersed in the beauty of this land. They have big dreams for the future and hope you’ll come enjoy this little slice of mountain paradise with them.

Your Hosts

Our hostess, Meghan, is passionate about plants and people, especially bringing the two together.  She wears a lot of hats. In addition to being the General Manager, she is also a gardener, herbalist, cook, naturalist, yoga teacher, Breathwork facilitator, and avid crafter. Tyler and Meghan are partners in life, love, work and play. Together they love adventuring in the Adirondacks hiking, paddling and xc-skiing. Tyler’s greatest passion is snowboarding, but next to that it’s being the steward of this land as our Property Manager.  Our other family members are our dogs, Dude & Chubbs, Kvothe the Cat, and about a dozen free range chickens.

The Bark Eater crew wants to offer more than just a place to rest your head. Our hope is that people come here to have an authentic Adirondack experience that will be remembered and revisited.  We infuse our passions into all we do here.  You’ll find threads of nature connection, sustainability, farm fresh food, gardening, herbalism, crafting, education, community, athletics, yoga, and more, all woven into the fabric of this quiet haven nestled in the mountains.
